In this case compensatory and punitive damages were tried separately after a successful trip to the Supreme Court on the issue of separate trials to different juries on compensatory and punitive damages. The compensatory damage awards were $900K for Vannucci and $1M for Wallace. In a separate trial, punitive damages were awarded in the amounts of $1M for Vannucci and $1.4M for Wallace. The settlement helped fund the Wallace and Vannucci Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence Shelter in Yolo County.
